Goldy hit .336 with a .981 OPS against lefties last year, so I could see him getting that platoon spot.

  2. Yankees flaunting the luxury tax by assembling an entire lineup of guys who are getting supplemental income from social security, truly devious

Those numbers are really just for the first two months. In his final 302 plate appearances since June 1st, .226/.277/.333/.610 with only 4 HR. Even against lefties during that period, .240/.290/.400/.690 so even the platoon is not eye popping, 1.541 OPS against lefties in the first two months when he was really good. Every Hall of Famer hangs it up and the game is getting younger. Even coming from a Red Sox fan, the signing old players and watching them fade on the Yankees like Donaldson, Rizzo, DJ LaMahieu, and Matt Carpenter have clearly not worked and is painful to watch. Stanton in his 30s has been a case of when he’s available for an October or small stint and he still has 2 years left and a team option. How is that going to age?

The sport is not having guys retire at 40 anymore. I know teams do that length on contract to lower AAV but even the good players are declining quicker than they use to by 37. This is not a slight on Goldschmidt who is a future HOF. Let the guy retire.

Edit: Getting down voted but Yankees fans are saying the same exact thing. Stop with the free agents in their late 30s.
