Seems smart
LOL
So Luka is going to play on veterans minimum and defer the rest of his salary so they can sign others? Not to mention the Lakers have to work within a cap while the Dodgers don’t
Hello, Japan? You got any more Ohtanis, but they play basketball instead?
So basically just pay people a fortune to come and sign for you, defer it all to cook the books, and get a generational foreign talent who’s happy to live off of endorsements and has a handy interpreter that can easily take the fall for any misdemeanors.
Did I miss anything?
Does that make the Mavs the equivalent of the Red Sox with Mookie Betts ?
Does someone want to tell him?
Impossible in the NBA because of the punitive salary structure. One bad contract sets a team back for years.
Baseball and Basketball structures are totally different. All it takes is one superstar in basketball to make a difference
Luka is too fat and bad at defense for this to work
I know there’s a bunch of deferring jokes in here already, but even prior to Ohtani signing the Dodgers were a great organization through everything from analytics to their facilities and drafting. The Lakers have been running like the Athletics since Kobe retired basically so this is huge
Coming off a bankruptcy FFS.
