Honestly if it was that cheap the Yankees should have been in on him, with Rice on the roster we basically would have 3 catchers so you can much more easily defensive replace him late or run/hit for him when a lefty starter gets pulled

That month after gary sanchez came off the IL and raked before getting injured for the rest of the season was nice. His pitching leaves a lot to he desired though

Makes sense given the back up C was only like 75% recovered from a devastating shoulder injury from 2024.

Gary is a replacement level catcher. But he also hit an 0-2 go ahead homer off of a 102 Chapman heater five inches out of the strike zone. It was the most impressive home run I had ever seen live. At least until Judge did his thing to Louis Varland. I’m glad to have him back with the org.
