The home run that brought the padres Tatis jr via the James shields trade. Thank you, Bartolo.

All-time baseball moment.

The moment that started the wheels of time that brought FTJ to San Diego

Even as a Padres fan that was such a special moment. I remember I was having a bday party with the game on in the background and everyone was cheering and laughing even though our team was getting beat.

This happened on May 7, 2016 just before Colon’s 43rd birthday. Shields was traded less than a month later, after allowing 10 runs in 2.2 IP in his final appearance on May 31st and the Padres received a familiar name for it
> June 4, 2016: Traded by the San Diego Padres with cash to the Chicago White Sox for Erik Johnson and Fernando Tatis Jr..
Shields collected -0.3 bWAR in 3 seasons with the White Sox, leading the league in losses in both 2016 and 2018, and retired soon after.
Before 2016 he had collected 30 bWAR in his first 10 seasons with a 127-97 record, this moment had a big effect on both Shields’ career and the future of the Padres

Even padres fans can appreciate this (because it got them Tatis)
