He is right. Ultimately it is the players that make this game great, not the owners. The players are why we are all fans and willing to invest money in the product. They should be making as much of that money as possible and there shouldn’t be any limits on how much of it the owners are allowed to share with them.

damn right
pay that man. pay that man his money

Great for the players, bad for the fans. Come on lockout, do your thing

Why would Manny Machado, an elite MLB player, be supportive of a team spending lots of money on elite MLB players? 🤔

Thanks Manny very cool.

All I’ll say is this. Why should the owners get paid at all, it’s not like they are the ones we are watching.
Paying them anything is a compromise. Giving them around half is a damn good deal. I don’t see why paying the players is the problem. The problem is unequal distribution of revenue that leaves the game and doesn’t come back.
If the owners would simply open their books than we could talk salary floor and salary cap. Until then, I assume they as they always are lying.

Good for players, bad for owners and fans

They don’t watch the games and they directly benefit from huge contracts. Why do we care about players opinions on this matter

I have no issue with teams actively spending. All the deferred money accounting BS is what has to stop.

Yeah of course a player would say that. The problem is that it’s not sustainable. We’re going to see a billion dollar contract soon. With billion dollar contracts ticket prices and everything associated with being a fan will increase and we’re not getting million dollar raises every 3 years.
Shohei is close at 700 million. It’s not inconceivable that a billion dollar contract be handed out in the next decade.
mattcojo2
Of course he does. He’s the one getting paid.
Time’s up manny. Go cap!

Of course players want to get paid as much money as possible lol why would I care what they think

I’ve seen fans say that players don’t care about the fans. Meanwhile, fans jump to support billionaire owners and think players should take major discounts.
