The catcher should be allowed to signal he wants a challenge by using his middle finger instead of the head tap for misses like this.

  2. HumanzeesAreReal

It’s spring training for the umps, too.

  3. ABaker4646

This is why the challenge system is good IMO. Umps are human and will miss calls. Get it fixed very quickly

  4. Nondescriptsitch

Angel Hernandez chose the right time to retire.

CB Bucknor, on the other hand, is in for a very bad time lmfao.

five challenges and five calls overturned this game so far! it’s only the third inning.

  6. 3 overturned in the first inning and all were pretty bad

  7. Pretty_Bad_At_Reddit

If a team wins 3 challenges in a game, they should get to fire the Ump. Get out to the outfield, dummy

  8. Proof_Reaction_3443

The video cuts off before the best part. Commentator says the pitch was right down the middle lol

How long until umps protest against ABS for exposing just how bad they are at their jobs

  10. Correct_Sometimes

lmfao. I expected it to be bad but once the graphic came up I lost it

This has been a really fun spring training game to watch. Griffin’s two homers punctuated by a bunch of overturned ABS calls. The Sox announcers kept jibing the home plate ump by name only to realize after a commercial break that he was at third base today.

Why can’t we cut out the middle man and just have ABS make the call in the first place, that’s what I don’t understand

  13. LucasDudacris

Honestly the catcher un-framed that. I see how blue missed the call.

  14. sparky255

I want to see the reactions of the umpires who make blatantly bad calls and then get overturned by the challenge lol

  15. Forsaken_Crow_7707

Even If it shames them into doing a better job it gets to the desired outcome.

Will be surprising if this system lasts more than a year before we just move on to fully automated.

The umpires won’t like getting embarrassed like this and it’ll just happen.

That’s what happened in tennis. They had the technology to automate line calling but went with a challenge system for a while. It was fun and novel but eventually it wore off and now it’s fully automated.

  17. Due-Fun-489

Sheesh. If a ball is entirely in the zone or a strike is entirely outside of the zone, the umps should have to rotate on the field. The home plate ump has to make the walk of shame to first.

  18. Informal_West_6864

This is exactly why ABS sucks. 6 challenges, all correct, all given back. Thats too much. It should just be two challenges, right or wrong. Makes the stakes for when you challenge higher.

  19. Texas_Kimchi

Man ABS is exposing how absolutely dreadful MLB umpires have been.

  20. Emoney19124

I am all for the ABS, but the players should not have to challenge. If it is wrong it should be overturned. Think expedited review in football.

Buzz down to the ump and get it right. We should never have a wrong call every again.
