Kid’s 19. If he takes a deal, I wager it would be a lock he’s on the opening day roster. I figure Pirates would want at minimum, an 8 year deal, buying out 2 years of FA, making him a FA at 27. If no deal, I can see him being stashed in the minors to get an extra year of control. Honestly, if it’s the Acuña type deal for him, could be a great idea to take it. Generational money guaranteed, and still be young enough for an even bigger payday.

Jackson Chourio signed a 8 year 82 mil contract prior to debuting with MIL in 2024 at age 19.
It also has two 25 mil club options afterwards which will bring the total contract to 10 years 132 mil.
I would assume that would be the starting point for negotiations.

8/110 with two team options for $25M.
If all options are taken, it’s 10/160. Bryan Reynolds has a 8/107 but he signed it after pre-arb, older, and while it hasn’t been a bad contract, it hasn’t quite been the steal. It is a rate that the Pirates are currently paying another player but after 2030, the funds can cover when Griffin gets expensive. He enters FA going into age 30 where there is still plenty of money.
