That is indeed the 2026 World Baseball Classic **™** Standings

Under the « Team Quality Balance » tiebreaker used until 2017, which factored in both offense and defense instead of just defense like now, the USA would be ranked above Italy. If Mexico beats USA the USA could miss the knockouts and they absolutely would change it again lol.

Why post a graphic with abbreviations that a lot of people aren’t going to know?

is there a reason why not use nation flag as the logo?

japan casually cruising to 3-0 while the rest of pool c has to solve a complex calculus equation to figure out who advances is peak wbc tbh.
This-is_CMGRI
How the fuck does Italy end up in a situation where they get to qualify on just beating Brazil and Team British America?
I mean I imagine if US and Mexico both thump Italy they get in but wow that’s weird
Something_319
There’s a world out there where US loses to Mexico/Italy and misses the quarterfinals entirely
There’s a part of me that really wants to see it just for the chaos

Everyone is hyping up the pool b clash, but we really need to talk about how the official tiebreaker rules might literally lead to a random drawing of lots if the run quotients tie up. wbc scriptwriters really chose maximum chaos for 2026 and ngl, i respect it.

czechia getting absolutely shelled and outscored by 25 runs across three games but still having the most immaculate, happy-to-be-here vibes in the dugout is why international baseball clears. colombia could definitely take notes right now lmao.

I still can’t believe that Columbia went 0’fer. I didn’t think they’d make it out of that pool, but still

When a World Cup-style event where most of the world’s baseball talent is concentrated in just a handful of countries has more parity and contenders than the sport’s primary professional league, you know that league’s competitive structure is fundamentally broken…

Canada’s fate is pretty much determined by whoever wins the Cuba vs PR Game today.
They ideally need to win 2 games but if I’m understanding this correct, If Cuba wins today (making them 3-0 and PR 2-1) Canada just needs a win over PR to advance.
But if Puerto Rica wins (making them 3-0) then Canada needs to beat Cuba to advance.
I think I’m understanding that correct based on how the tiebreakers work?
Fancy-Pie-2565
True or false, if they replaced this format with four teams, the United States, Japan, the DR, and Venezuela and played a best of five series with the championship of best of seven it would do better numbers?
DBZFIGHTERS
Is it just me is or Pool A significantly easier to advance out of than the other groups?
jaron_b
Me over here rooting for the chaos of US not making it out of pool play. It’s highly unlikely but the fact that it’s still possible with 2 games to go is pretty funny.
