It’s not like he’s JUST a talk show host, he played for 15 years and has experience in a locker room. Yeah he should know the rules and the scenarios and it raises questions about his commitment that he doesn’t, but let’s not forget that he was a player too. That being said, it’s also not his fault that he’s not allowed to let certain pitchers go for more than a few innings. Lots of issues going on, but not everything should be on DeRosa

Look I’m no fan of DeRosa, but to just call him a talk show host does sell his qualifications short. He had a 15 year playing career and managed team USA to a runner up finish in 2023. Going into this tournament, it did not seem like an asinine thing to have him managing. Heck, until 24 hours ago it didn’t seem crazy. Obviously it hasn’t turned out that way, though.
That said, they do need a change after this tournament. They either need someone recently retired and getting into coaching (like Yadi for PR in 2023 or Albert for the DR this year) or an experienced manager (like Davey Johnson in 2009).
