We are still going on about this?

Jesus, what is wrong with Team USA
God this team is so lame. Get the stick out of your asses and understand you’re playing a game
So Derosa lied about it being a totally independent decision for cal? Something isn’t adding up
Genuinely got to wonder what the fuck is going on with Aaron Judge and the other leaders of this team.
When I was in college one of my boys (who didn’t play much) got subbed in on a blowout. We were on the road in his home town and he dapped one of his boys during play.
Our coach lost it and benched him for it since we were enemies during the game or whatever.
It was dumb then and it’s dumb now
That stuff is just way too performative. There is no way it benefits most players mentally

So is team USA not taking the WBC seriously enough, or we’re too serious and it’s just a game?
Don’t get me wrong this is all dumb, he should have shaken the dudes hand, but it really feels like people are finding every angle to shit on this team.
They agreed on a no handshake policy? I doubt it. Bobby was posing for photos with Vinny and Jac before the game, and I’m sure there’s other examples like this I’m unaware of.
Yeah, I don’t think this situation has gotten enough attention. Let’s clear our schedules for next week so we can run an investigation and get to the bottom of this.
I said this elsewhere but Team USA philosophy sounds like trash. This isn’t war, this is an international sports competition.
And I’m not saying that doesn’t happen because we’ve all seen the cases where countries who genuinely hate each other can take that frustration out on a match, but none of these other WBC countries are our enemies. Hell, they’ve all to some capacity embraced our culture by playing baseball and our answer is to refuse shaking hands?
Cal aside, the philosophy makes no damn sense.
» These are super important. I have a responsibility to my teammates and my country to be locked in and focused each game and do everything I can to win. I’m here to win the World Baseball Classic for my country. »
Whether or not you agree with it, that’s his rationale and honestly some of the responses to it are lame. He doesn’t want to be cordial and he doesn’t owe anyone a reciprocal fistbump.
I can’t believe this has become a multi day story on this app this isn’t the first time in sports this has happened. Regardless of your opinion on this, who genuinely cares this much?
No one cares
Just because he doesn’t want to play grab ass like DR doesn’t mean he isn’t a nice person.
Every story that comes out about this is more stupid than the last, which is really saying something.
I do appreciate the fact they looked at all these teams showboating home runs, leaning into their cultures and the US was like yeah we should do that too and then went « our baseball culture is Brian McCann and Madison Bumgarner fun police. »
I think it’s ridiculous on Raleigh side but if he did make it clear to Randy beforehand and he still did it and then said what he said I’d be pissed.
Regardless off the decision if Cal asked Randy not to do something, Randy does it and gets pissed, that’s on Randy. Like sure it’s not the mentality I would prefer but Randy pushing a boundary and then getting pushback should be expected, whether you agree with the boundary or not
This team is both trying way too hard and not hard enough at the same time. I’m impressed with how they’ve created such an epic soap opera.

I’m gonna guess the clubhouse leaders probably said “hey y’all take this serious” and Raleigh felt like not interacting with Randy was his way of “taking it serious.” I don’t think Judge was like “don’t shake hands” lol
It would be kind of funny for team USA to come out acting like an sec baseball team and start bat flipping every time they make contact with pitchers screaming and pumping their chests after every strike out just to see how quickly everyone on here would start to hate that type of stuff
Jesus Christ who cares
Also Randy probably offered it knowing he would decline, making Cal look bad. Randy routinely stirred shit with Kiermaier and Yandy.
They aren’t serious enough!! They’re too serious what are they doing!??? Everyone just yelling shit cause bats are cold for a few games.
Also, Randy obviously meant to cause a scene then if he knew what was going to happen beforehand. Everybody was bitching “Cal showed him up”. Well no, if this is true, Randy showed him up
Oh great, now instead of thinking one player on Team USA is a joyless loser who takes himself too seriously, you’ve convinced me that the whole team is like this. Neat.
Maybe they should have spent some of the time they spent developing this “be a dick to your MLB teammates” policy learning how the pool play rules work instead.
Whoever came up with that idea needs to be taken out back. Did seriously nobody stop to think about how it might come off to the rest of the world (let alone Americans) for a bunch of rich white baseball players to pull this fake military macho shtick while we’re literally AT WAR?
Literally who could fucking care?
Ah, so it isn’t one douchebag, it’s a team full of them. That actually does clear it up, thanks.
