These negotiations HAVE to end with a cap, floor, and deferral limits.

I don’t know if we will see any games cancelled or a full lockout where an entire season is lost. The WNBA literally had a very nasty spat between the players and ownership and they struck a deal.

On the other hand, the COVID season was shortened due to labor strife.

    > Um, will the Rockies finish last in the NL West? You’d better believe that a lockout is a lock

So what you’re telling me is that our one hope is the Rockies not finishing last? Sounds like somebody in the West is going to have to take one for the team.

  4. It would have been awesome if this was happening a year later, so we could full involvement without any restrictions of MLB players in the Olympics.

rich people time and again show they are willing to waste tons of money in the short term to get minor long-term gains.

A full season lockout would be about the dumbest thing the league could do right now with how much traction they’ve gained recently in viewership, especially with younger fans. So obviously that is exactly what I expect Manfred to do

Side note after reading the article; I’ll bet MLB knew about Clarks drama and were praying it didn’t become public before the end of this CBA so they could then leak it all in the middle of negotiations to help strengthen their position.

I’m not worried at all. Manfred bungled the tv rights deal so badly – the owners can’t afford a season long lockout

If it results in a cap I’m not worried at all.

Hopefully they don’t catch the players off guard with a 60 game season, so they all show up to camp fat like last time.

Any discussion of this is pointless because it depends on the outcome of the year. If the dodgers steam roll the league as is expected, the calls from fans will be extremely loud and they’ll be on the owners side. If they end up losing and a lower payroll team wins, the fans will likely be on the players sides.

The outcome that everyone should want is a salary cap with a salary floor. It increases competition and really no one loses out besides the ultra elite players. Theres a billion other wins the owners can throw the players too but those will less impactful on the actual outcome of the seasons
