In fairness this one is a very heavy Progressive Field thing. The most corporate ballpark in the MLB

Ads are a genuine cancer on sports. They spread like wild and nobody likes them
Jonjon428
Yeah I know, Conner Brogdon in 2026 is crazy
Equivalent_Eyes69
Rob Manfred sucks
10thGenS1
I’m sure other ballparks have some pretty egregious ads behind home plate but Progressive Field seems to be the main culprit.
jutin_H
It’s bad I’m not even watching this year. Just looking for box numbers
Smallville_K
That’s progressive

Baseball is the most exciting it’s ever been and all the rule changes have improved the sport. Take the good with the bad and stop bitching so much.

Have you ever seen photos or film from games from the 1920’s? It used to be a lot worse
HairMigration
100% agree. TV broadcasts sticking ads everywhere has completely ruined the viewing experience. I don’t even watch MLB anymore because of it. I am back to listening to the radio or reading box scores afterwards.

They gotta give us the space behind the hitter at least man, Jesus. Or restrict it to flatter ads. The batters eye exists for a reason
Grandahl13
Why do they need three ads for the same fucking thing all in one shot
AggravatingFinding71
I’m a newer baseball fan, I literally don’t notice. The game improved so much to watch from when I was a kid 30 years ago. No one likes having ads shoved down their throats, but if the price of the sport being enjoyable to watch is some ads I can train myself to ignore, then I’ll take it.
ZombieTrogdor
Damn that backstop height’s insane.
mideastmidwest
“Stream Cubs” thanks, I already am.

These ads have been there for a looong time, and I’m happy I’ve been able to tune them out, though they never really bothered me before that either.

This is the monkey’s paw curling for everyone’s wish to stream games with no cable and no blackouts. They have to try to make up revenue somewhere.

There have been giant ads behind the plate since at least the ‘90s
porican
it was a throwaway line but when bro in Ready Player One says “our research shows we can obstruct up to 70 percent of the field of vision without inducing seizures” i saw the abyss gaze back at me

Visiting team broadcasts superimposing ads over the home park ads has got to be reigned in. Sometimes they even cover the mound ad to show their own.
idkwhatnamebruv
try watching a Venezuelan winter ball game and you will be overwhelmed by the amount of ads there is…
Maximum_Mongoose8306
the ads on the mound piss me off so much. how much could they possibly get in revenue for this garbage. the top players could simply make $39 million per year instead of 40.
Ok-Hold-8232
Yeah it’s pretty fucking miserable to watch. This shit shouldn’t be allowed but it’s the world we live in and it’s never getting better 🥲
Just_Clancy
I may be in the minority but I really wish they’d get rid of the on the screen strike zone, especially now with abs challenges, I feel like I personally can tell if a pitch is a ball or strike better with my own eyes than with the virtual strike zone.
Dinobot2_
Aside from the ad on the mound, this has been kind of the standard TV view for decades.
ChasedWarrior
I never notice the ads behind the plate much. I’m more focused on the game.
Zariman-10-0
NBC Sports Philadelphia makes sure to fit as many ads on screen as possible, even if it makes the positioning of the pitcher and batter look ridiculous
