I lost my dad almost 2 years ago very unexpectedly. Hitting a ball with a stick probably would have made me feel better that first week. I ended up deep cleaning a room in our house instead.
People cope with grief in different ways. Hope the jays fans show him some love today. It’s just baseball.
Keeping the mind distracted with work. His dad would probably have wanted him to do this.
When my dad passed, I spent the entire day trying to keep my mind off of it while getting ready to visit my family. I’d imagine it’s similar for him. Wants to keep himself from spiraling with his thoughts.
Weird Al played a concert after leaving that both of his parents died from carbon monoxide poisoning.

He later considered his subsequent shows as therapeutic. People work through their grief in many different ways.
