My bois played an incredible game. They deserved this win.

Even though the games are being played in Japan, every Taiwan game has been completely packed with Taiwanese fans who showed up in huge numbers. In today’s game against Korea it honestly felt like the game was being played in Taiwan.
Winning the WBSC Premier12 by beating Japan was truly historic for Taiwanese baseball. Compared to the pretty rough decline Taiwanese baseball went through a while back, the turnaround feels incredible.
I’m honestly rooting for Taiwan to make it into the knockout stage.

Imagine how they would feel if you would fucking respect them enough to call them Taiwan WBC…

Look at this shit. I fucking love it. The WBC is really becoming something. I remember how niche it was from like 06-17 for the mainstream. USA winning in 17 plus the 23 tournament being hype really put a lot of eye balls on it and we’re barely on like day 5!
I really hope there’s some more upsets in pool play and the quarters and semis keep delivering.

I just spent time running tiebreaker scenarios. Taiwan needs Korea to beat Australia. Then three teams will have a record of 2-2.
The tiebreaker is based on runs allowed per inning played. There are other more complicated factors in play that make it necessary for Taiwan that the score of that game to beat least a 6-3 victory for Korea. Korea and Australia can both score more than that, but not fewer.
** Edit: And I guess if the game goes into extra innings that could change the outcomes.

For those who are not familiar with the context: Taiwan had never won against Korea in the WBC before, despite several close games. Today is a long-awaited victory for the Taiwanese.
