I’m going to assume that this was because of enthusiastic Mexicans turning up early.

Still this is crazy that in the US, more people turned up for the early game between 2 not great teams than turned up to watch some of the best baseball players in the world representing your own country.

I’d give so much to be in Houston to have the opportunity to watch GB and Brazil, let alone Judge, Witt, Skubal etc. You guys kinda suck at enjoying international sport and it makes me sad.

Unless my eyes are broken, literally how? The stadium was noticeably more packed for the US games, what’s going on?

I actually watched that game live, and tbh, the attendance in that GB vs. Italy game doesn’t even seem to reach 30K looking at the number of empty seats in there. So I’m assuming it’s paid attendance (dunno if that is the correct term) and not the actual attendance of the people in that game?

It probably were Mexicans that showed up early but I like to think that rivals for literal hundreds of years won’t waste an opportunity to beat each other.

I went to every game in Houston Friday and Saturday. If there were 29,000 people there for Italy vs Brazil I’ll eat my pants. That crowd was 10-12k at absolute best

Y’all have to know how the average American think of world tournament sports.

If they suck, they don’t care.

If they dominate, they don’t care and will make it known that they don’t care, and players should focus on their leagues instead.

There’s very little American patriotism in sports on the international scene. It’s very « me & my club ». Everyone’s partying like Spongebob and Patrick while Squidward’s there just standing.

The only exception is the Olympics, and it’s more of a « Let’s watch America score medals in various sports » countdown than actual patriotism.

To Americans who think this is not them, it’s not you specifically. It’s the remaining 50+% of Americans who have this shallow attitude with international sports, and therefore, they form a large enough market share.

Crazy how people are showing up more for that than the USA games lol

This is an excellent lesson to not trust published attendance figures lol
