Pitching does weird things to your body, and your body does weird things to pitching. Anyone clowning on Skubal has never pitched at even a moderate level before. Maybe something feels slightly off, and he feels like he needs to work through it at a practice pace, and not game pace.
It’s weird how Skubal would get less hate if he didn’t even sign up for the WBC at this point.

four years ago at the last WBC, ohtani was in the same situation. his last year before becoming an unrestricted free agent.
unlike skubal, ohtani never hesitated to give his all at the WBC. he gave us the unforgettable ohtani vs trout showdown, and then proceeded to blow out his elbow later in the season. i suppose it did affect his free agency since he’s only making $2M a year 😆
for some, there are more important things than money. for others (i.e. skubal, boras), not so much.

Team USA does not need the distraction of Skubal right now. The Dominican Republic, Japan, and Venezuela are all tough opponents and USA needs to lock in as a team if they’re gonna win this tournament.
