Shit, I was hoping Berrios joining would be what PR needs for a run to the semis/finals.
The tournament does seem a little flawed when you got guys who are known for being constantly hurt like Buxton playing, and others being denied by insurance.

Funny how this isn’t an issue for the USA or Japan….
Between this bullshit, and the several ‘foreign’ teams that are actually just comprised of Americans, and the bullshit between Cal and Randy, this WBC has been steaming garbage.
I’ve been expecting this, it’s been nothing but bad news for Puerto Rico, since insurance doesn’t want to cover so many of the best players I see no choice but the MLB covering the players themselves.
I’d like to see the actual numbers and costs of this insurance

Man, maybe it’s the tinfoil hat I’m wearing, but I wonder if years from now we will hear how MLB owners put their thumb on the scale for the insurance to make a decision one way or the other.
I want to love the WBC, but if I’m being honest with myself… I don’t care at all about it. Especially because it’s right before the actual MLB season starts. It kills it for me. Imagine how different it would hit in mid December…when I’m actually craving baseball activity. Having it at the same time as Spring Training forces my priorities to be – #1 No one on my favorite team gets hurt. #2 No one on my fantasy team gets hurt. #3 USA does well.
