I like Italy’s odds a lot more with Nola starting. He has been significantly better vs. RHB than LHB in the past 2 seasons, and Venezuela’s lineup vs. Japan only had 2 lefties in it. They should have the pitching advantage for the first half of the game. Of course, Venezuela’s lineup is still scary and when it gets to the bullpen, things will get more dicey, but they definitely have a better shot now.

The USA is gonna be massive favorites no matter who wins between Italy and Venenzuela.
Either they get a second look at Lorenzen or get a bull pen game
Or they potentially face Eduardo Rodriquez who had 5.02 ERA last year, Antionio Sentaztela who had a 6.65 ERA or they go for a bullpen game as well.

i think Team Italy has been consistently disparaged and doubted and undercounted, and they’ve knocked it out of the park every time.
to have Team Italy, a team of mostly US players who weren’t selected for the US team, potentially make it to the Finals and rival the team that rejected them would be an awesome story.
