This was a Fernando Mendoza-level impassioned post-game speech

  6. NevermoreSEA

It seems like he forgot to use a war analogy.

  7. MattO2000

Ok but why’d you cut out the whole Jesus part of the interview lol

  8. pumpkinspicemami

Así se hace!!! Felicidades Venezuela 🇻🇪

  9. TheTurtleShepard

    They wanted it more

USA was there just to be there but this tournament means everything to the other teams.

  10. Killatrap

that is my fucking GOAT RIGHT THERE!!!!!

  11. bonzothebonanza

I don’t want to see any Geno slander, especially from Reds fans.

  12. glass__beaches

    Venezuela—when you’re here, you’re family™

  13. Equivalent_Waltz8890

There are people on this sub who will see this and get angry

  14. Queen4Jesus

Geno has earned so many fans ❤️ what a class act

  15. PazzaInter22

Eugenio confirming Jesus was not with Team USA today. Assuming that’s due to the immigration policy

  16. all_teh_money

never met a baseball fan who didn’t love geno

  17. HardcoreKaraoke

That’s why Venezuela and some of the other teams were soooo fun to watch. You could tell they were actually having a good time and truly pulling for each other on another level. The vibes were great and felt real.

The US just seemed like a bunch of all stars thrown together without much management. You never really saw genuine moments of joy like from Venezuela, DR, Italy, etc.

  18. Wyattwat

lol why did the mods delete the part of the interview about him praising Jesus

  19. JamilJames

Ken Rosenthal bursting into flames at the mention of Jesus Christ

  20. Mcsoupy

Fuck yeah, those vibes truly are immaculate

  21. BeMyBrutus

I can’t be mad at someone with hair like that. Well done.

  22. Puppetmaster858

Geno is the best, I’m so happy he gets this moment.

  23. death-strand

I don’t think we will see anything close to this energy when the players of most of these teams are 60-70 going into the final month of the year

  24. Budget-Ocelots

I am so glad they won. Everyone expected the US to win in 2023, but JP won. WBC and Ohtani skyrocketed baseball’s popularity, as shown with the 250% increase in viewership for this year WBC across the board.

Everyone expected the US to win in 2026, but VE won. Will WBC’s popularity increase again? Yup. After what Italy and VE did, kids around the world can dream of beating US bests.

  25. papi framing the moment perfectly while jeter and arod fall out feels like the first time every time

  26. rock25011

So happy for Geno, and bringing that energy back to the Reds this year!

Makes sense, most of (if not all of) these guys were born in Venezuela and had to immigrate to the US for their dreams

Like any immigrant, they’re in a new country and a new culture, learning an unfamiliar language, just grinding in the minors just to get by. Just having other people who have gone through the same experiences as you from the same homeland to rely on must have been a lifesaver.

Unlike teams predominantly born in the US, these guys have relied on and helped each other all throughout their baseball careers. Makes sense they feel like family, and it makes sense that they have so much joy playing with each other, and must feel so awesome winning a tournament like the WBC with their guys
