Do we need to read an article to crack this case or just be alive?

  2. Vanguardweek

Because Robert O’Neill made them his concubines?

  3. ImaManCheetahh

the discourse around the demeanor of a team of baseball players is rapidly becoming more obnoxious than said team of baseball players

Turns out it wasn’t the Yankees or the Dodgers. The evil empire of baseball was USA all along.

  5. Dustmopper

They just didn’t look like they wanted to be there

Compare that to the party in the DR, PR, or Venezuela dugouts

It’s a lot easier to root for teams that are having fun

  6. GeorgeRusseIl

The 2023 team was a lot more likeable

When it feels like it’s a birthright to win because it’s “America’s game”, it sucks the joy out the process

Aaron Judge was a terrible captain. Team seemed to have no fun with him as their leader. DeRosa bringing Concubine McGee seemed to make it worse. Like the DR had Juan Marichal come and be around the team. U.S. should’ve brought in Sandy Koufax, Johnny Bench, or some other old baseball legend to “motivate” them

I need at least 3 more posts about how hated this team was before I really start to believe it.

Trust me on this.  If the final rounds were held in Tokyo then there would be a great turnout among American fans.  You’d get residents, military personnel and tourists to show up in big numbers to their games.

Being the permanent host and (incorrectly) being held to a standard where they are *expected* to win has dampened enthusiasm.  It’s a cliche that Americans love and underdog story, but Team USA battling in the Tokyo Dome would be massive.  You could even give them noon games to allow fans in the US to watch games live.

They acted like dudes who listen to Joe Rogan all day and say « hell yeah » when they see Pete Hegseth on TV

Team USA in the 2026 WBC will not be remembered fondly. What should have been one of the most hyped teams in terms of lineup and possibilities and the kind of performances in matches that inspire emotions and memories that would be talked about for years to come wound up being a flat, uninspired blend of meh. I feel bad for guys like Brice Turang and PCA and Gunnar and Bobby Witt Jr. and Byron Buxton (not to mention Miller, Webb, McLean, et al.) who have to lumped amongst the bad vibes that oozed throughout. It’s one thing to have pride in your country, it’s another thing to feel militant about it. May this be a lesson for USA the next time the WBC happens. This didn’t have to feel like a nine inning Battle of the Somme.

  13. It was actually pretty easy for me to root for them.

Just off the top of my head:
Cosplaying as the troops to play baseball (for weird reasons), having Robert O’Neil come to talk to the team (for awful reasons), being ignorant assholes and not knowing the rules (for American reasons), looking joyless and pissed off instead of joyous and celebratory (for white baseball player reasons)

Is the 5 mins of hate over? Holy fuck, get over it they won Silver.

  16. elmananamj

WBC should be every 4 years, rotate hosts, US needs a competent manager and to have fun/not be massive bootlickers

  17. realfakejames

People really think we don’t know why no one likes us especially currently lol

  18. 830res_at_dorsia

Those dudes were speaking like Kevin Garnett boasting about going to war while there was an actual ongoing war.

  19. Vesiah81

Party when you think you clinched then lose to team USA two or Italy. No handshake to fellow teammate. The list is long

  20. These discussions about USA’s « blahness » are exhausting. Can we talk about the winners, celebrating Venezuela instead?

  21. Hot_Mathematician357

Because this team did not care about winning and it showed.

  22. starsrprojectors

I really hope this loss gives Team USA the necessary chip on their shoulder to take this tournament more seriously.

  23. KingGouda

Because they were frauds. All the fake military propaganda when only Skenes was in the air force.
