Edit: I’ll take the L on this one although its hard to check when it immediately throws a “give us money” pop up as soon as you load the website so I just assumed the Nat Inquirer would be shameless enough to do that. I also didn’t realize the tabloid was spelled enquirer because I don’t read that slop.

What a shitty situation.
Fun_Trick2172
Is that the reasons he sucks at playing baseball too?
cooljammer00
If true, that’s messed up.
But also I would assume at this point in his career, Bohm would have a legitimate money guy handling this sort of thing and not his parents handling it for him.
SurveyMotor8983
I’m sure people will make jokes about this, but these situations are sad as fuck.
My mother took advantage of me financially and even though it wasn’t nearly on this scale it’s truly a hard bridge to ever recover from and I can only imagine how much worse it is on a larger scale. Fuck his parents for risking their relationship with their child over money.
Michael__Pemulis
I guess if there is a silver lining to this awful situation it is that Bohm is still in his arb years so hopefully the damage was limited (relatively speaking).

Shitty parents

Damn. This reminds me of the Baker Mayfield and his father dispute
PopularGlass3230
Happens way too often with young athletes. Parents will take the money and pay off their own debts.

Jack Johnson, the hockey player, had a similar situation. His parents used his money to buy Manhattan Beach prop among other items

Hmm
Equivalent_Waltz8890
I hope it’s not as bad as that one hockey player.
This dude about 15 years ago on the bluejackets had his mom and dad put him like 30 million in debt by putting loans against his contact at like 30% interest

Congrats on the 3 run HR and chasing Evoladi out of the game before 5 innings.
hailtopizza
This happened to Jack Johnson when he was with the Columbus Blue Jackets
TerrifierBlood
Ryan Howard had to sue his for the same thing.

Always wonder how many parents screaming during little league games are hoping their kid can be their meal ticket. Disgusting.

Absolutely nothing worse in the world than finding out your parents are shitty people.
Really hope they don’t get too much money from my boy.
redditsucksdeezNts
Awful situation. There might be some people that think this is a douchey move, but put yourself in his shoes. Imagine working your ass off day in day out to get to the big leagues and earn big money, only for your parents to secretly take the money you earned. Looks like an easy “win” for Bohm if true
OriolesMets
That just sucks. Ugly situation.

I remember Ryan Howard had to deal with a similar situation. Don’t believe he speaks to he family to this day.

Damn a Jack Johnson situation. Sad to see really

Yet another reason why when the Ohtani thing happened, I could fully believe those stories of these athletes, actors, celebrities, and such who have no idea what supposedly trusted people could do with their money. They’re not coming home from the ballpark (or whatever else) every night and balancing their checkbooks. They’re gonna have people doing that for them.
Bohm won’t be the last person that will have supposedly trusted people fuck them over sadly
GruelOmelettes
This sounds like a shitty situation, but why were his parents managing his money in the first place?
YZYSZN1107
I’m broke so my parents just don’t like me for other reason.

Non-sports related but Jewel’s (the singer) mom stole/mismanaged almost $100 million of Jewel’s income.

This is just sad to me. Don’t understand how someone could do this, especially your own kid. But it happens often, people suck
