Honestly, Estabrook should be sat for a game by MLB here…

It was one thing when umps would pitch a fit when they were questioned before…but you’ve seen visual evidence 4 times that you missed the call and you’re going to pull this shit?

ABS is fantastic for the ego check half the umps needed

I got « That’s fucking low » when it first cuts to him

But I’m not sure about the second part, « fucking (something) » shush me? judge me?

Whoever in T-Mobile’s marketing department said “Let’s be the sponsor of ABS” is getting a raise. Seeing their logo more than my own kids

  4. KingBroly

The first pitch was pretty darn close, to be fair.

    umps cant do shit anymore

fuck all of them, they are the worst

I feel a little for the umpires regarding the top and bottom of the zone.

You can’t ask an umpire to reliably call balls and strikes based on 27% of the batter’s height or whatever the threshold is. While they’ve always got some of those calls wrong, at least in the past there was a physical description of what they are supposed to be calling.

I love ABS and I think the zone that it has defined is about where it should be. But I really wish they’d gone the full measure and just let the machine call it all the time.

Boone is such a prick. ABS is designed to make this shit obsolete. But he really just can’t help himself. There’s a reason he’s on pace to challenge Bobby Cox’s all time ejection record.

Boone is the whiniest manager. Dude, just shut up. The challenges went your way leave it be.

It’s funny and all but you can’t get mad at a call that was wrong by 0.1

  10. DenialisaRiver04

I think we will get to a point where an Ump os going to want to swing on a manager…Boone will be the first one

Not sure how bad the other calls were, but < 0.1” and you’re going to bitch? It’s a fucking coinflip

  12. razzyspazzy

It’s interesting that, so far, the better has a better feel at a perpendicular angle of the strike zone than the umpire straight on.

  13. I mean 0.1 inches low on a nasty breaking ball was a reasonable miss call even if the umpire deserved it

  14. secord92

I mean…I get the ump sucked but the ABS is there…and worked. So what exactly is the point of Boone barking at him other then just being a dick? lol

  15. Paperwork2025

Did the ump ask for a review on the « walk-off » ? Touche Mr. Boone…

  16. Sacmo77

These umps are digging their own grave. This system basically tells everyone that these umps can’t do the job anymore.

  17. kaehvogel

« Stop f***ing chirping at me about how bad I am at my job!! »

  18. ABS is the most exciting to hit baseball since steroids

  19. Dont_ban_me_bro_108

Imagine getting upset when the call goes your way.

  20. SocOfRel

We’re watching umpires go through what AI is eventually going to do to all of us. An already absurd amount of pressure to be robot-like perfect ramped up to the point no human will want the job anyway.

  21. NYdude777

Just get rid of the umps already, put a robot back there.

  22. TheBoringProtagonist

So umpires are aware this is the beginning of the end for them, right? At least calling balls and strikes, maybe we’ll still need them for plays in the field a little longer.

  23. PalmettoBugg005

Something that I have noticed so far is that the bottom of the zone is the tough part of the zone, not only for umpires, but also catchers. Jonah Hiem challenged a pitch that wasn’t even close to a strike last night, but for years now teams have worked so hard with their catchers at stealing that low strike that everyone is going to have to recondition their brains.

Also, it seems like every time I see the Yankees Aaron Boone is whining about something. Dude is insufferable.

Ump humiliation is the best part of ABS, I haven’t enjoyed baseball this much in a while.

  25. ashsolomon1

Honestly surprised the umpire union didn’t have an aneurysm when this got proposed

  26. Madacon

This is the best thing they’ve ever added to baseball, amazing to see these terrible umps be embarrassed.
