L’arbitre Alfonso Marquez est complètement choqué de voir à quel point il a raté une décision au-dessus de la zone après un ABS Challenge.

To be fair, that was some nice framing.

  2. HemlockMartinis

I’ll take that reaction any day over CB’s nonsense.

    « That’s not even close »

At least he owned it lol.

Can someone figure out how many inches outside the zone that was?

  5. Disused_Yeti

so bad they didn’t show the measurement

  6. theerrantpanda99

Yankees working hard to make umpires obsolete.

  7. mtportales

I love that they go split screen to show reactions

  8. It seems like Umpires try hard to hide how upset they are for missing pitches 3+ inches away.

Either the umpires are disappointed in themselves for missing so bad or the MLB is keeping track specifically of these bad misses and the umpires themselves know

How big of a strike zone does Grisham get ?

Top of the box is clearly below the belt

I do think this was a ball but does anyone else think the top of Grisham’s zone is way low? Forget midpoint between belt and shoulders, it’s practically _below_ his belt. Other guys’ zones look more reasonable.

And yes, I know the TV box is not official, but they base it on the same measurements and it matches what we saw on the challenge animation.

Man, if it was that far above Judge’s calculated zone, there’s a chance the cameras wouldn’t have been able to spot it?

More umps like this please. Thanks

Great reaction. I’d think that some umpires take pride in their craft. When they’re behind home plate it’s their job to call balls and strikes accurately. Marquez, in this case, did not. But he cares enough to hold himself accountable, and presumably strive to do better from now on.

TLDR CB Bucknor is a disgrace lmao

  15. Impossible_Bell2288

Looks like it slapped him in the face lol

  16. sukizka

Ok I hate ABS. That’s a strike all day. This zone is broken

  17. _FrankTaylor

This is the kind of shit that’s going to help these umps tremendously in the long run.

I can absolutely see how he missed it, catcher did a good frame job.

  18. Bevrykul

Oh wow, and Umpire owning up to his screw up, CB Bucknor could never.

  19. starkvonhammer

Shows you how effective good framing is!

  20. CutiePie0023

A lot of these umps are gonna lose their jobs to ABS lol

  21. pdxhophead

Got that whole chewing gum and calling a game thing going on

  22. Major-Caterpillar955

So can anyone just become an mlb ump? This is setting the bar real low

  23. The-original-spuggy

To his credit Trent Grisham stands pretty tall compared to others
