He def should be in
Kenny being a one and done is criminal. Absolutely insane.
Nobody was elected to the HoF on the Writers Ballot in 2013. It was an extremely stacked ballot and it was bad timing.
5 players got over 50% and also the year that Bonds, Clemens, Schilling and Sosa debuted, all of them getting under 50%. Plus Biggio and Piazza debuted that year too, with Biggio getting the most votes at 68.2%.
Bernie Williams debuted in 2012 at almost 10% but fell to 4% in 2013 and went off the ballot. Lofton would have done better had he debuted at a different time
HOF is dumb. So weird he’s not in
Definitely should’ve stayed on the ballot longer. I think a guy like that was hurt by perception because the latter part of his career was subpar by comparison, its one of the reasons it took so long for Tim Raines to get in.
Fell in the love with him the one year he played for the Cubs.
Anybody who still takes the BBWAA seriously isn’t paying attention.
kenny lofton was a goddamn menace and should be in
Is that Chris Young asking the questions? He looks so familiar and I saw him in a clip with Glasnow the other day and couldn’t figure out who it was.
I don’t know for sure is he’s a HOF’er, but he absolutely should have gotten more votes
Lofton and Lou should have both been in a long time ago
Lofton, Delgado and Posada all deserved a LOT more discussion than they got.
He should 100% be in the hall, but I absolutely hate when Ichrio is used as a Hall of Fame comparison its so disingenuous.
Ichrio played 7 full seasons in the npb, he had a .994 ops at 20 compared to a .999 at 26 one year before winning MLB MVP. He put up 40 war in his first 7 MLB seasons most of those being over 30 as a contact speed guy. Think its far to say he is at least a 80+ WAR player if he didn’t spend a large chunk of his career in the NPB.
Lofton is a byproduct of his era. He should 100% be in the HOF, but he played during the HR explosion era and was overshadowed by them. He was great at everything, except power, which he would be average at, in many other eras. He was most remembered as an Indian, but even on those teams he was the 3rd/4th best player on his team behind Manny/Thome/Belle and on par with Vizquel. I think this is the biggest reason he isn’t thought of in the same light as HOFers.
He was never the best at something, but was in the upper echelon of many things.
Ichio comparison is not a legit comparison.
That said one and done is ridiculous.
62 WAR and 3% of the vote is absolutely brutal.
Andrew got in with 67, Biggio with 66, and McGriff with 57.
I watched him play and he should be in
I don’t wanna sound naive and I’ll probably get downvoted but idgaf. but why is there not a fan vote of SOME sort. Like not even a lot. Maybe even 10% of the vote should be fan votes or something. Without the fans, there is no baseball plain and simple.
