Shocked that folks aren’t walking around downtown on a rainy Wednesday afternoon
Man… I’m old enough to remember when the Cardinals had the best fans in baseball.
Shocking that a city of ~300,000 doesn’t have a lot of people out and about on a rainy afternoon.
When small market fans say we hate large market media, it’s because of things like this.
You mean that on a dreary day during work hours there aren’t masses outside? Woah that’s crazy! It’s not like that’s how it is in all but like 10 cities in the US. That doesn’t mean there aren’t hundreds of thousands of people that live there, or that residents don’t care or stay inside. It’s different to NYC or LA or Chicago and that’s beautiful that every city is different
Isn’t it raining there? I would not want to walk around in the rain

Much of St Louis’ urban core was built when the city had 800,000 people. Now it sits at around 275,000
I visited St Louis for the first time last year and found the same thing, though that day was sunny and warm (too warm). It was also a weekday, though. Nonetheless was kinda disappointed in St. Louis’s downtown area.

I’ve only been to St Louis once, and it kinda looked like that, but that was because it was the middle of winter.
Lots of people at the Blues game, though.
the cherry on top being they are doing construction around the fountain area shown in the video.
It’s true. Almost no one lives in downtown. There are a few apartments, but it’s nothing compared to mid-city and beyond. Downtown is mostly office buildings, stadiums, parks, and museums. People go there for their 9 to 5 or for events, then they leave. St. Louis city proper has some nice walkable neighborhoods, but they aren’t downtown, and then even more people live in the County, which isn’t walkable at all.
I was shocked Phoenix was like this when I visited last year.
Then I realized it was 118 out.
While it is not entirely fair to judge on a day like that, it is a pretty dead down town relative to other cities I’ve been to. If people are going out, they are rarely going down town, unless it’s to watch a game.
It’s a work week. But idk. What’s gone on in st.louis.
Very true. I visit family in STL every other year, and it’s more boarded up and empty every time I go.
