Marcus Semien BaseballSavant Pages, 2023-2026

Il a montré un net déclin au cours des 4 dernières années. Cela étant dit, je serais choqué s’il affiche un .211 xwOBA sur une saison complète.

CY fleeced Stearns? I’m not saying it but it’s in the papers. All the papers are saying it.

(This may age horribly but I’m loving the Nimmo experience so far)

Time remains undefeated, more at 11.

Now do Cal Raleigh last year to this year (so far) 😂

Mets had 2 left fielders locked up long term. Had to move one of them.

This trade opened up an opportunity for benge to play. So if he pans out this year that also needs to be accounted for in this trade

  5. We didn’t get Semien to be one of the best bats on the team. We got him to provide a defensive boost up the middle (last night being an exception) he still provides that most days. McNeil with better range basically. And if Semien can steal a few bases along the way, that’s a nice bonus.

So far, I’m not really seeing anything to worry about with Semien’s role on the team. Sure he’s slumping hard in the first 7 games of 162. We’ve scored 3 runs in the past 3 games. Everyone except Soto and Lindor are slumping right now. Semien is working the counts, he’s had a couple of over 100 MPH exit velos. It might take a few weeks, but he’ll be a fine 7th hitter in the long run.

He’s an all-glove (eventual) 9 hitter second baseman on a team with a lot of ground ball hitters. That has its uses.

I feel like I just watched a timelapse of a flower wilting 🥀

I could care less about his xwOBA. It’s a terrible measurement of success. You could hit 30 balls 370 feet down the line and get 30 HRS. Hit the same 30 balls to dead center and it’s 30 weak fly outs.

    Same xwOBA.

Semien always starts slow. He sucks in April. This isn’t new.

He probably ends around like a .240/.310/.400 slash when all is said and done (barring injury of course)

I get that there is a trend, but its way too early to look at a 2026 savant page.

I don’t need this negativity at 10 on the morn bro

Texas knew what they were doing. He had too much mileage.

Meanwhile we have how many second basemen?

Baty and Vientos need their ABs to develop in this overcrowded IF…

this sucks for me … esp bc I’ve rostered him all 4 years I’ve played fantasy baseball and he’s among my all time fav players

  13. Yanks1813

I mean he’s just getting older, it’s what is supposed to happen. If the defense stays solid though he can be a useful player

Saw an idea that Savant bubbles shouldn’t even appear until May 1st every year and I liked that idea. Semien’s career is definitely on the down swing but you can’t draw sweeping conclusions from a week of baseball

Beyond all the alleged rifts between teammates (Seager/Semien, Nimmo/Lindor), it’s clear that Texas just wanted to get out of the Semien business and the Mets wanted to get out of the Nimmo business based on baseball reasons.

Expensive older guys or guys with lots of injuries are EXACTLY the type of guy you try to get rid of. Texas and NYM just had a shockingly good 1 for 1 situation with the trade, where the Mets wanted an infielder and Texas wanted an outfielder.

I’m starting to think players taper off in performance as they progress into their 30s

  17. Buppers25

He still accumulated almost 8 WAR in 2024 and 2025. He’s an elite defender, good base runner, plays every day, and isn’t so bad on offense his defense can’t make up for it.

I still think there’s a lot of value in Marcus Semien,

Was delighted by and continue to be delighted by that Nimmo trade

Because I could not stop for Death –

He kindly stopped for me (Marcus Semien) –

Mets fans are dooming hard because we lost a couple of games because the lineup is sluggish out of the gate. Meanwhile, Lindor has like 11 walks in front of Soto so I suspect they start driving in runs soon. Semien was never here to hit, and we wouldn’t care is everyone else was hitting.

I was very surprised some people considered the Nimmo-Semien trade to be equal or even in favor of the Mets.

Felt Nimmo has way more left in the tank especially hitting wise.
