I think it’s interesting to compare the loss numbers versus the year established.

If we take the Phillies and compare them to the Giants, that gives us a difference of 1289.

Now, you could drill into the meta further and pin down some very specific years (that fans of the franchise would say are obvious), but it lets us drill deeper.

As a post mortem, what actions specifically led to those poor years? Do those actions directly/intentionally contradict improvement (milking da cash cow has always been a thing).

Apply the five whys, and kaizen, and it can help people who are *numbers crunchers* to see influences in a different light.

Not to say that I have all the answers, but kaizen/5 whys is pretty solid for tearing shit down to a measurable incrementally changeable process.

We may not be bleeding edge athletes, but we can use some of the core concepts to other post mortem situations. Kinda fun.

    Cheers

that’s actually crazy to have almost 700 more than the next team even though Atlanta is 7 years older

  3. That’s actually kind of wild to think about200,000 hits is such a ridiculous number, and the fact no team has crossed it yet puts into perspective how much turnover and change there is over time. Coors being the spot where it might happen feels fitting too, given how many hits that park gives up

Curious if anyone knows which franchise is actually the *furthest* from that mark? Feels like expansion teams would be way behind.

cubs have the most hits with 200880, but they played 606 more games than the phils to get them

Looks like the Braves are basically guaranteed to also reach that milestone this year

Only need to give up 694 hits in their final 153 games or 4.5 a game

So far, they’re allowing 5.3 hits per game through 9 games
