Wow, he is certainly dialled in. That’s now 58 big league starts for Paul Skenes. He’s allowed no more than 2 runs in 48 of them. 😮 Wonder what he eats for his breakfast to start off each day right…

  2. It’s honestly wild how quickly Paul Skenes has gone from “top prospect hype” to actually outperforming it. The consistency is what stands out more than the ERA limiting damage like that in today’s game (with pitch counts, deeper lineups, etc.) is crazy.

Curious how people think this holds up long-term though do you see him staying this dominant, or is some regression inevitable once teams get more looks at him?

what a beast… I really hope the Pirates find a way to keep him

This is actually insane. As long as he’s healthy he’s got the Cy Young on lock. Hopefully for just this year, he has a mediocre year… like 2.50 ERA. Shohei better have the best pitching year of his life.

O’Neill Cruz “defense” keeping his ERA above 2 smh

It’s crazy that even with these numbers, you can at least argue that he’s not the best SP right now.

Very good time to be a pitching enjoyer

While there probably is nothing to this, but looking quickly at this graphic shows every 10th start he seems to give up 3+ runs. (That’s the red line down the middle of the graphic). It is an interesting observation and no idea why that would be.

Only 23 wins in that time too, Nutting get this man some damn help

This seems pretty good, am I correct in this assumption?

  10. Even when you get to him, you don’t REALLY get to him. He always at least keeps them competitive and at best absolutely dominates the game.

He’s a true ace, the best pitcher the Pirates have ever seen, and may be the best pitcher in baseball.

    Mets of opening day

It’s still hilarious to me that he couldn’t make it out the first inning in his first starter of the season.
