I think its bs that Lopez is getting suspended for the same amount of games for simply defending himself. What do you want pitchers to do for now on when they get charged at MLB?

This is like at school when the bully fights you and you get suspended the same amount of time for just defending yourself because the school has a “no fighting policy.”

If Lopez had thrown a pitch that hit Soler, then we’d be having a different discussion. This is simply a case of a player who can’t control his anger issues and another player being forced to defend themselves because of it.

Reminder that MLB teams can’t replace players who are suspended for on-field incidents.

Walt Weiss has not been suspended for that football tackle, but has instead entered « instant legend » status.

That feels excessive? It didn’t even feel like a huge deal, they had the brawl and went on with it.

Lopez was also just supposed to stand there? Granted punches were thrown which is likely the reason for suspension

This is so dumb. Lopez doesn’t deserve that. Give him a game whatever.

Soler needs 10+ and anger management for his gross overreaction to a pitch that didn’t even hit him.

So, effectively a one game suspension for Lopez while Soler gets 7x that

  7. Makes sense. 1 game suspension for Lopez basically and a 7 game one for Soler

I mean, I would expect to get slapped in the head by a baseball if I waited a minute to charge the mound.

  9. Lopez was just defending himself from a very VERY large pissed off man coming at him. How does he get the same amount of games??

  10. And 8 games for Joe Kelly.

Wait….are we still doing that joke?

How can you run up to a pitcher in the middle of a game and assault him, and somehow get the same punishment as the pitcher lmao.

‘Oh but Lopez had a ball in his hand’ no shit he’s a fucking pitcher. It’s his job to have a ball in his hand! What’s Lopez supposed to do? ‘oh boy, I better make sure I don’t hurt the 6’4 240lb guy coming to assault me!’

That pitch didn’t even come close to Soler. After watching it several times I just don’t see why he would charge the mound. Were they chirping at each other?

“Both are appealing” they also disagree with the decision

Lopez threw at his head, hit him in the face with a baseball, and is a pitcher yet will miss less games than Soler

I’m shocked that Lopez didn’t get like 10 games. Make him miss 2 starts. Soler at 7 games is reasonable.
