This is getting ridiculous. Players adjust their hats and helmets all the time. Why can’t the signal be three taps?

The umps are getting petty with this. Everyone, including the ump, knew he wasn’t trying to challenge, but the umps are doing this because they don’t like ABS. This is like the third time I’ve seen something similar.

Guaranteed if you checked the ump group chat this is their personal « fuck you » to ABS
Try and make us look dumb? Don’t you dare touch your head ever. Umps are clowns

I thought you had to tap your helmet, and say challenge to the umpire to make it clear that you’re challenging it.

That’s two challenges the Pirates didn’t want to use that they successfully won

Oh. So this is going to become a whole thing now

Umps getting petty. Watch the players get in their faces and tap their helmets like 10 times in a row just to get them back.

Challenge should be physical indication with a verbal confirmation

Catcher clearly calls for the challenge. Umps even points to the catcher when he initiated it. People in this thread getting all buthurt over nothing.

Geees, that pitch is just insane. That’s like a foot and a half or armside run.

I feel like umps are getting vindictive with the challenges that were not challenges.

I don’t know what anyone in this thread is talking about. It looks like a challenge. Things like this are going to happen. It’s a new facet of the game
EuphoricCrashOut
Who thinks of these things? Obviously not players… you know, people that fidget adjust their caps/helmets ALL THE TIME.
funkoramma
The Cubs on the losing end of accidental challenges two games in a row. That’s actually funny.

The head tap’s gotta go. “Was that a challenge or not” has already come up too many times. Need something unambiguous.
Agitated-Swan-6939
Maybe a new motion should be used to challenge. Adjusting a cap/helmet is instinctual to many players…
