Man can’t even down 59 hotdogs and 10 gallons of beer after a game. No chance he makes it here in the bigs.
Burn this season to the ground
Oh no 😭 culture shock is the worst. It really can make you miserable and isolated if you’re trying to go it alone. I hope they’re able to set him up with supports to help him through it, and his teammates are involving him in things (okay why am I talking about a grown man like he’s my kindergarten-age son starting school)
Has he been eating enough cheeseburgers?
We also probably jack it more than he is used to.
Understandable. My arm is fatigued too after firing my AR-15.
Jokes aside, I do actually sympathize. It’s kinda hard to think about as a resident, but to try and fit in as a foreigner is tough.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he chooses Japan over the player option if he continues to struggle this year.
Hopefully he gets the support he needs and adjusts, dude is a great talent
I UNDERSTAND IMAI, I’D FEEL THAT WAY TOO IF I HAD TO MOVE TO TEXAS.
Edit: To be explicit I am NOT dismissing him because of his Dodgers comments. I was supportive of his choice to fight us back then and still is and as another Asian in the US I understand the shock. I simply feel like HIM out of all people saying this is a bad look.
Didn’t he EXPLCITLY say he wants to do it the hard way, experience all this without the help of fellow Japanese players? I am all for adventuring in a new country but when it starts effecting the thing you’re being paid big money to do, it strikes me as a bit irresponsible? The Astros paid him to pitch not to go on a culture shock journey in the US.
Sounds like excuses if I’m honest, I don’t seem to recall other Japanese pitchers or hitters for that matter ever saying something like this over the years.
Prolly found out about Asa Akira
Astros need to build a Mitsuwa somewhere in Houston asap
This is precisely why a lot of foreign players like to sign with teams that already have somebody from their country on the roster. And it’s even worse in the minors
I mean this is kind of why Japanese guys stay on the west coast or go to a melting pot like NYC.
Imai may be regretting all those comments about wanting to beat the dodgers and probably wishes he was in LA right now lol
my right arm fatigue is also due to American porn
Yeah I can imagine that effects his mental state
Yeah but the food they get at the stadium is supposed to be gourmet shit.
>Tatsuya Imai said he is « just not able to adjust to the American lifestyle
No worries Tatsuya neither am I to be honest. Its hard out here.
I done did a lot of shit just to live this here lifestyle
Homesickness and culture shock can be debilitating.
If he didn’t just sign with the Astros, I’d really empathize with his plight. Culture shock is real and it can be incredibly isolating.
