Mazilli should be enshrined just for allowing the Mets to acquire Ron Darling and Walt Terrell, the latter of whom was later traded for Howard Johnson. Those trades definitely helped the Mets eventually improve in the mid-1980s after they had been bad a handful of years.
I get that the Mets don’t have the most storied history, but two playoff appearances in six seasons is enough to get in their hall of fame as a manager?

Bobby Valentine spent nearly his entire last stay with the Mets getting out-managed and utterly embarrassed by the late Bobby Cox. He no more deserves a Mets HoF slot than Willie Randolph. He was a clown-shoes spotlight narcissist and an awful manager.
