    I’m reminded of an old anthropological study from the 1960s concerning Polynesian fishermen – the ones who primarily fished close to the reef didn’t have many rituals or routine prayers, but the ones who fished the deep oceans far from shore had many. The prevalence of ritual was associated with the perceived risk and difficulty of their task.

    Baseball is f’n hard.
