The CC comparison is a good one, because like Sabathia, Skubal will almost certainly be leaving in the offseason to join a big spending, stacked team that will win the World Series next year.
Sabathia has said he was willing to risk his arm and health to get Milwaukee into the playoffs, big free agency payoff be damned.
He showed that with all the complete games he was throwing on short rest to drag them into contention.
Do we know if Skubal is that kind of guy?

The irony is that the national media really wants the Brewers to pick him up like they did Sabbathia. I just don’t know if they want to give up their prospects for him when they have two aces already and Drohan is looking like a decent starter as well (thanks Boston).
No mid-season trade will ever top Sabathia in 2008. Guy was on another planet when he joined the Brewers. It was awesome.
Wasn’t quite as awesome as watching that Brett Myers at bat and then Shane Victorino effectively ending the Brewers’ season two batters later, but still awesome.
Skubal even looks like CC currently.

There’s a team that’s only 5.5 games back of the wildcard and getting some hitters healthy. Even swept the rays..I’m sure they could use a guy like skubal. Let see that team is..check notes…the tigers…

CC was the textbook definition of reliable and a workhorse.
Skubal is rehabbing from an injury and has a laundry list of injuries in his career.
No way am I trading any top 100 prospects for 4 months of a guy that’s 50/50 on even being healthy for the next 4 months and then leaving in free agency.
