I’m stunned at some of the teams on here. Mostly the Atlanta Hawks

  2. ContinuumGuy

Because MLB teams are very good at cooking the books!

  3. veryveryveryy

Cowboys pulling off the greatest Ponzi scheme of all time on their fans

  4. Trees-Are-Overrated

This could be a stupid question but is it because no baseball team has played any games yet?

  5. Monkey_Man_Is_King

The Cowboys made 629 million dollars in *profit* for the season they just had?

  6. Substantial_Bill2148

Literally how are the cowboys so high? Thought that ship had sailed like two decades ago

  7. whoisthat807

Is that because MLB teams don’t have to open their books? NFL and NBA teams need open books since there’s a revenue sharing agreement, MLB doesn’t

  8. Electrical_Yard_284

How could this possibly be true of the Edmonton Oilers

  9. dataminimizer

Cowboys and Man U have a lot of similarities these days.

  10. HouseDjango

Surprised the sixers are on there but not the eagles. They basically rule philly right now.

  11. RIPSlurmsMckenzie

Fucking bulls man. Jerry killing Sox’s and Bulls

  12. Ok_Football344

Texans in the top 20 is sorta wild. Good for them wow.

  13. inkyblinkypinkysue

Giants and Jets have been complete ASS for a decade+ and still raking it in. What a world.

Spurs looking to be the most profitable Championship team in history

  15. Johnnadawearsglasses

I diligence a bunch of mlb teams being sold. They really don’t make great money

  16. SufficientCalories

Everyone is talking about the Cowboys, but the Oilers?!

Edmonton is 1.4 million people, and the other major city in Alberta also has an NHL team!  Smaller than Jacksonville or Milwaukee! I get they are the only game in town but there are much larger single team markets like the Portland!

  17. Their methodology, for those curious (notably it includes estimated revenue from concerts and other non-sport stadium activities):

    > The 20 most profitable sports teams are culled from Forbes’ 2025 Formula 1, MLB, MLS, NBA, NFL, NHL, NWSL, global soccer and WNBA team valuations. (The global soccer list included 30 men’s teams across six leagues: 12 clubs from England’s Premier League, eight teams from the United States’ MLS, four from Italy’s Serie A, three from Spain’s La Liga, two from Germany’s Bundesliga and one from France’s Ligue 1.)

    >The most profitable ranking reflects Forbes’ estimates of operating income (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) for the most recent season with available data (2024 for MLB, MLS, the NFL, the NWSL and the WNBA; 2024-25 for the NBA and the NHL; and 2023-24 for European soccer). The profit figures are in U.S. dollars and are rounded to the nearest $1 million.

    >The listed team values are enterprise values (equity plus net debt) and reflect the economics of each team’s stadium (including revenue from concerts and other non-sports events that accrues to the team’s owner), but they do not incorporate the value of the stadium real estate. Similarly, the values reflect rights fees from regional sports networks owned by the team but do not include the value of the RSNs themselves. Equity stakes in other sports-related assets and mixed-use real estate projects are also excluded.

    >Sources for Forbes’ estimates included team executives, sports bankers and league consultants; public documents such as stadium lease agreements and credit rating reports; and sponsorship and broadcasting industry executives.

Baseball largely doesn’t publish its finances, since it’s a closed book sport. That would change in the event of a salary cap.

  19. Immediate_Lie7810

I’m guessing the only reason the Dallas Cowboys are #1 due to merchandise sales and renting out AT&T Stadium and the Ford Center

  20. Due_Government4387

The 3 NHL teams that gouge the absolute shit fuck out of their fans. And how is this list even accurate, we keep hearing how the dodgers paid for that entire Ohtani contract after 1 season. Sooo why the fuck aren’t they No.1

  21. Beneficial_Crow_3142

Texans:really?Wouldnt even have them in top 32 of NFL teams let alone all sports.

  22. mrdannyg21

Solid reminder that these lists and calculations are very close to meaningless. They are fairly wild and imprecise assumptions, and there are huge discrepancies in what is or isn’t included as part of each team’s revenue.

If you were doing a true ranking of profitable teams, the list would almost solely be NFL teams, and the Dodgers would obviously be on it after winning a championship and solidifying enormous global revenue as well.

  23. Equivalent_Waltz8890

Every mlb team forges and fix’s its books

  24. jdbolick

The only one I would have expected to be on the list is the Dodgers, as their revenue dwarfs every other team in baseball.

  25. As a New York fan I’m shocked to see the rangers as so valuable and I wondered if it’s become kind of a chi chi sport in some circles? It’s certainly expensive to see a rangers game but also it’s expensive to play so in theory the kids who are fans from playing hockey are wealthier meaning more money to spend on rangers gear? Totally making this up but otherwise can’t understand how they are more profitable than the Knicks let alone the Yankees.

  26. Naders10

The dodgers aren’t even in here wtffff

  27. celtic1888

Man United are almost $2 billion in debt and Tottenham are in a second year relegation battle

  28. stringohbean

God let the Spurs get relegated. Shit would be so funny.

  29. Local_Internet_User

What’s the actual source on this infographic? It’s titled « most profitable », but then they’re ranked by « operating income », which is a wildly different thing.

  30. OnlyKey5675

How are the Oilers so high up on that list?

  31. OnlyKey5675

    Confused by this list.

2026 is less than three months old

Profitable as in the profits they take?

This isn’t a revenue list. Because the Dodgers had over $1 billion in revenues in 2025. Manchester United 888 million.

  32. MusclyArmPaperboy

There is zero financial incentive for the Cowboys to ever win a Super Bowl again

  33. Wonderful_Rest3124

Shrug I see a lot of folks with baseball hats. It’s cool.
