    Really weird game. Felt like the Americans just slept walked through most of it after the 1st inning. It’s like once the adrenaline wore off after Judge’s home run everyone just collectively said “okay, let’s just get this over with.”

    I want to see how they respond against Great Britain and Mexico before panicking. It’s very possible that the team thought today was gonna be an early mercy rule and checked out mentally. Maybe they needed this type of game to lock in and focus.

    Honestly a pretty underwhelming blowout. USA had tons of opportunities to blow things open and just never did. Basically rode the walk train. DR and Japan looking way more impressive rn

    I was SHOCKED to find how strongly I supported Team USA. Shocked. I assumed I’d be tepid at best. Possibly against them. Plus I hate a bunch of those guys on principle. (Schwarber’s more a Phillie than an American to me, you know?) But the patriotism CAME OUT and I guess I’m American after all. USA! USA! USA!

    I will also be at Yankee Stadium for the Subway Series game on the 25th anniversary of 9/11, so I guess sports just brings out the patriotism in me in a way that I can’t quite shake, no matter what the state of the world is.
