Look I know I’ll come across biased and I actually have no problem with yoshi being there or even pitching again on short rest because he’s so good.
BUT if someone like yoshi, who has 300+ mil guaranteed to them over the next decade, were to require Tommy John because of the WBC then it would literally make the situation worse for the future of the wbc. It would be the case study for why teams don’t allow their pitchers to play.
Would players still be as willing if getting hurt in the wbc meant sacrificing that years or multiple years worth of pay? I wonder, and feel like they wouldn’t. So don’t put it all on the teams

I think this just means he’s hanging out with the team, not that he’s expected to pitch again if they defeat Venezuela. It all wraps up on Tuesday at the latest so it’s not a big deal.
