Man why are people so unable to admit that they fucked up. Just say “yea I messed up, we’re still in it, we’re moving on.”
Some say Mark has still not found his way out of the stadium
He definitely found out around the 7th inning. He was about to use Kershaw to eat innings until he found out.
Only way he seemingly makes it out is if we win it all. Even then terrible look.
> “It’s just an overly confident statement on Hot Stove. Period. The end. And it’s my fault,” said DeRosa of his initial comments. “…There’s a couple false narratives out there, but no, I was well aware that we had to win that game, based on all the scenarios that could take place. They went in 2-0. We went in 2-0. We knew they were playing Mexico the next day. We knew there was tiebreaker rules involved. So I can understand the questions about lineup and pitching situations. We were up against a lot of guardrails with regards to teams. The deployment of certain relievers. How many pitches they can use. Whether they can go back out. Whether they can clean up innings. And you’re just trying to piece it together in real time.”
This could all be solved by just Firing him today
More like Mark DeHosed-us, amirite?!
This is so ridiculous that if you told me this was a Joaquin Phoenix performance art type ruse by DeRo, I’d believe it.
He made a single mistake initially and then just kept them coming. Admit you fucked up and move on.
It’s so blatantly obvious that he didn’t know the rules. Goldschmidt and Clement both getting second at-bats when the US was down 5-0 proves that by itself. Every run matters for tiebreakers. The US was actually in dire straits before the PCA home runs made the tiebreakers much more favorable for them. So he was either just flat out ignorant or he is just a moron that doesn’t look at stats, which I would say should be fireable in of itself
This is dumb, but I’d like to point out that the MLB put stars on every team that had already clinched a top-2 spot in the standings. DeRosa’s an idiot, but literally any single US player looking up the standings and using basic reading skills could have figured out they needed to win.
Best evidence of a truthful witness in court is consistency in testimony
DeRosa failed on both interviews
The dude could pull lineups out of a hat with this roster and still field an incredible team — so what exactly is the manager supposed to do, other than KNOW THE FUCKING RULES OF THE TOURNAMENT
DeRo wondering what’s up with all the questions. It’s never been like this at the other celebrity softball games he’s coached. What gives?
Not pinch running Goldy was all the confirmation I needed that he had no idea about the stakes of the game against Italy. Complete moron.
It’s rather easy to keep a true story straight.
Resign. Step down. Whatever. Managing to lose and embarrassing everyone.
DeRosa should rightfully be raked over the coals, but the first line of the article is pretty funny, especially after that quote the writer used at the top (it should be heeded not headed):
« Team USA manager Mark DeRosa should have headed those words this week following his initial gaffe. »
You all need to lay off my favorite baseball himbo of the early 2000s. He’s trying his best (not really, just please stop).
