Venezuela had the better pitching, better hitting, better fans, and better managing. Absolutely the best team. Too much will be said about DeRosa, Judge, etc but Venezuela deserves this.
From the players side of things, this tournament loss is squarely on Judge. Weak leader, weak captain, and couldn’t get it done when it mattered most. Just an absolute embarrassment from him
Mark DeRosa is truly Team Venezuela’s MVP for this championship win. When giving his MVP speech after the game, he said: « apologies to Team USA. I had thought they’d already punched their ticket to the WBC Championship. »

This US lineup which was constantly praised and talked about as a death star lineup was shutdown in this tournament by a:
* 17 year old
* Farmer who hadn’t pitched since the last WBC
* Single-A guy named Tugboat
* Various other perennial minor leaguers
* A guy with a career ERA of 4.19
DeRosa needs to be fuckin gone, this team was cheeks.
