Carson Benge now leads all New York right fielders in homers runs this season.

Every time a bird falls out of the sky and fucking dies next to Carson Benge he hits a home run.

He’s the 4th Mets rookie to hit a HR on opening day, and the first since 2004. Though of note, Elster and Jones both had played previously but were technically rookies. Matsui and Benge are the only « true » rookies to do it.

Not that they’re doing a terrible job, but it’s a shame this game is on NBC with all these big moments. I’ll have to go back and listen to the radio highlights later.
