Steven Kwan just loves umpires and wants to let 40,000 know how good a job they do, what a guy!

me from my couch calling steven kwan pro mlb hitter an idiot for thinking that was a ball

  3. AffectionateGuide820

I’m surprised, Kwan is one of those guys that I feel like has a really good sense of the zone, he and arraez are the two guys that come to mind for zone knowledge

  4. all_teh_money

i was very surprised kwan challenged there. he’s usually really good at controlling the zone when i watch him

  5. TheElMonteStrangler

Ugh. He’s on my fantasy team. Thanks for nothing.

  6. DarkGodRyan

Crazy challenge. Not close, 1 out, and nobody on base

  7. darkravenn12

Challenge / no challenge is actually pretty big in this game right now. Bo Naylor could have walked instead of struck out if he chose to challenge a couple innings ago, and he likely would have scored afterwards (assuming Hoskins still doubles). And then, the Guardians waste their first challenge on this lol

  8. amattcat

    That’s banned from challenging worthy.

  9. flmarlins3

It’s gonna be pretty funny seeing that same reaction throughout the season

  10. Trinidad34

I thought they weren’t showing the strike zone with ABS?

  11. Prudent-Inspector35

The ABS will inevitably bite people in the ass for being emotional and I can’t wait to see some crashouts

  12. karmacamochameleon

He should start the next at bat with an 0-1 count

  13. Pick6XPA

umps must be feasting that these types of pitches are being challenged.

  14. SanjiSasuke

*These* were the challenges I was excited for. The funny ones.

  15. no_one_canoe

Finally, something Kwan is bad at!

  16. DegredationOfAnAge

is there a rule against overuse?

  17. HeavensRoyalty

That was bad and you should feel bad about that.

  18. TinKnight1

New tactic forthcoming: If you have any challenges left by the 9th inning when you’re down, use them to throw off the closer’s rhythm.

There’s no benefit to having any left at the end of the game, & if you stretch it into extras, you get one challenge each inning no matter what, so you don’t lose out there either.

Might as well use them to disrupt the closer’s flow even for 15 seconds.

Doing that in the 3rd as here seems far less beneficial. Lol

  19. Sunyveil

I was laughing so hard when I saw this. I like Kwan a lot, but this wasn’t even close.

Also random thought: Steven Kwan, future Mariner? West coast kid, would get to hang out with Ichiro all the time.

  20. Muntberg

Damn that’s a bad look lol, this is gonna make for some embarrassing moments.

  21. TheGrabbinDragon

Note how this came seconds after I commented on how well he sees the ball

  22. Modsrbiased

Using abs on a clear strike that’s a meaty fastball away, makes you look bad

  23. cogginsmatt

Same guy who took a pitch straight down the middle the other day and looked surprised when the other team challenged the ball call.

Your evil ways are coming to an end Steven

  24. mansontaco

This is like watching satan slip on a banana

  25. tacospecial69

See umps, the players can get embarrassed by this too!

  26. DelcoInDaHouse

And that’s the last time Kwan will be permitted to challenge a call.

  27. ForsakenRacism

ABS takes so long to get ready for it to be used to ice the pitcher at the end of games

  28. 1sinfutureking

In a funny note, on the brewers broadcast yesterday Jeff and Rock informed us that after spring training the coaching staff banned the pitchers from using challenges. When the brewers are pitching they only let the catcher call a challenge because the pitchers were really bad at it lol

  29. Saundies

I’m a Jays fan that loves Vladdy but he is going to do this 1000 times this year.

  30. Spirited-Soup5954

    You do pickoff????? I challenge

  31. pixarfan9510

Tbf Kwan has a knack for getting rung up on wide pitches outside the zone so I can’t blame him for being skeptical there

  32. chousteau

he looked kind of lost at the plate last night.
