Which makes the AB before Muncy’s home run weirder cause he didn’t challenge a called strike like an inch above the zone..

The challenge system makes me love ABS so much.

Known pitch framer Will Smith successfully calling a bang bang pitch a strike

At that point, you might as well take a shot if you have them

I get physically happy watching Will Smith. This man just doesn’t frame. You can almost hear him sneering « that’s 0.16cm inside » as he taps his helmet at the catcher’s box. Three-ball counts don’t faze him. Then he’ll whip out a clutch homer that slaps the shit out of Chris Rock on the 9th pitch. He’s exhilarating. He’s Will Smith.

Love ABS, but I imagine something might need to be done about these kinds of results that are within the known margin of error tbh. I mean, if the margin of error is 1/6 inch or something and you’ve got reviews like this that show essentially 1mm in or out of the zone can you definitively overturn a call? This feels like a « call on the field stands » sort of situation

  7. Honestly I think this goes to show how good unos are at their jobs. There of course have been multiple notable, egregious calls this season but many of the calls are overturns by fractions of an inch. Can’t fault the human element in missing by that little.

One of my fears with abs is the good pitchers will learn to game the zone and throw unhittable pitches. Prolly ok with only 2 challenges but something to watch
