I mean it’s good advice, he should try doing that.
Schmitt not usin’ the mitt.
I bet some of that was Chapman being a bit frustrated at himself too.
Thank you for uploading this. I read about this very exchange in the previous video that featured him failing to « catch the fucking ball » two times, resulting in 2 Padre runs.
Serious question, is Casey new to first base? Why was he stretching for the ball when the ball was thrown high?
Wasn’t Schmitt a good 2B last year? Is he at 1B this year so Arraez can play 2B?
…. I guess Wash was right…. its incredibly hard
Chatt Mapman and Schmasey Citt
Playing Devil’s advocate here but Chapman airmailed that ball on a close play, not like he put it right in his chest and he dropped it.
Edit: Personally just not a fan of how Chapman handled it, Schmitt is playing out of position and attacking him in front of your teammates is frankly bullshit.
This is another reason why short men aren’t kings
Bryce Eldridge would never…
Tell em’ Wash.
Devers hammy is still tight, so they’re forcing Schmitt to play a position he is unfamiliar with while our top prospect first baseman chills in AAA and a guy who Schmitt is better than at second base refuses to play first. Egos and bullshit and stupidity all around.
He’s stretched out toward third, but he should be stretched out towards the sky.
Chapman is the veteran so he’ll likely get no guff for this, but isn’t the first rule to not show up your teammates like this?
Schmitt knows he’s supposed to catch the ball. He knows he didn’t catch it. He doesn’t need some guy being a dick about it.
Mariano Rivera to Kenny Lofton
I guess I DON’T miss Chapman on the Jays 👀
lolgiants
A lot of people are about to learn about Vitello, this is how it was at Tennessee also. His program was all about people showing others up and being loudmouths, it worked in college but stuff like this is going to get real old real fast with major league players
A competent manager would’ve put the guy who has played a lot of first base there instead of allowing him to play second where he is not good, but that’s not this guy
Yea that’s great for the clubhouse
That’s leadership baby
he’s being told to catch it now
..someone must’ve told him not to before
That’s kinda mean
i don’t know the guy, haven’t really payed too much attention to him, but Chapman really seems like a bit of a tool to me
Guy overstretched to try and make the grab and made it so he couldn’t extend high enough.
Keeping the ball from getting by you is priority 1 for a first baseman.
Throw looked like it was sailing over his head
I mean…was the throw not really fucking high lol
I have all the confidence in the world that Tony Vitello knows how to navigate this situation!
Chapman is definitely Matt Williams reincarnated
Nice team culture you got there in SF
Immaculate vibes in SF
I’m a Padres fan and even I was getting pissed off at the Giants for playing sloppy lol
Oh! Catch the ball. He probably never thought of that

This is another case of people not realizing that there is actual skill to 1B.
The vibes are not great in San Fran
