In high school, we played a team called « The Math and Science Academy » and beat them 33-0 for a similar reason. I pitched in the game and honestly just felt bad so I just threw pity fastballs and they still couldn’t score 🙁
> victory did not trigger the mercy rule because 24 of those runs were scored in the second inning
why
No mercy rule?
The coaches let this happen. And it never should. There is ZERO reason to allow 24 runs in one inning. A coach with integrity would tell their players to run into outs or just talk to the coaches and ump to forfeit outs. So the other team can swing a few times. There are SO many bush league programs in central TX.

This is in large part because they had Josh Naylor on their team, as evidenced by the accompanying photo.
