That last part is especially troubling, and we should focus on that as a reason why people struggle to display vulnerability to others.

In Duran’s situation, you’re a professional athlete with a spotlight on you and making millions a year. Making millions doesn’t quiet down the demons in any way, and any day where you’re not performing up to your standards or other people’s standards only weighs

That’s a line a fan shouldn’t cross, should immediately get thrown out and banned. Hope they punished the fan and didn’t normalize this behavior. Call them bums or whatever, fair game for that

  3. Duran called a guy a fucking f*ggot last year. I’m not sympathetic to someone receiving hate when they spew hate and ignorance themselves.

    > Honestly, it’s my fault for talking about my mental health. Brought in the haters.

This is such a sad sentiment and I absolutely hate he feels he has to go there because some asshole(s) decided to be even bigger asshole(a).

So torn. I feel bad for him because he clearly needs therapy or other mental health resources but he also willingly aligns himself with a cult of dipshits that make him feel like a lesser man for exploring those options.

  6. We shouldn’t accept the fan’s behavior. Kick them out. Plausibly even ban them from games. People have gotten way too comfortable with the lack of accountability.

Last line makes me sad. Stigma around mental health still exists unfortunately and no one should be shamed for talking about their struggles. We need that. Middle fingers up to pos who say things like that.

This is why men don’t talk about depression and end up killing themselves. Poor dude all talking about it does is get you ridiculed

it’s triggering to me that duran is a sexiest homophobe.

not excusing the heckler. it’s just ironic that duran has felt what it’s like to genuinely be so depressed you don’t see any other option but to stop living yet has no respect for anyone else’s battles & struggles in the same way

Players in uniform shall not address or mingle with spectators before, during, or after a game.

Duran is 100% in the wrong, at least according to the current rules as they stand. However, it brings about a larger issue as a whole. Duran opened up about a personal issue, relating to his mental health. Though this is seen as a positive towards mental health overall, now it gives the bottom-feeders of society ammunition to hurl at him. Just another reason why men don’t open up. Revealing your weakness and insecurity will only be used as ammunition to attack you later, as we can see here.

  11. Look, I’m a Red Sox fan, and I don’t actually believe this, but in the back of my head, I do wonder if he didn’t ‘invent’ his mental health issues to distract from the fact that he got caught by a microphone calling a fan a ‘f*****’.

So maybe he should just shut up.

That fan should be banned for life from every stadium and mlb event

Zero tolerance on things like this
