Oops, and they just signed him in the offseason to a big old contract for a closer.
This:
>Los Angeles officially placed Diaz, 32, on the 15-day injured list Monday. In a corresponding move, the Dodgers recalled left-hander [Jake Eder](https://www.espn.com/mlb/player/_/id/4297994/jake-eder), 27, from Triple-A Oklahoma City.
>club option if Díaz has a specified injury between 2026 and 2028 and does not end season or post-season healthy, or if Díaz undergoes a specific surgery.
Well, assuming this is a TJ, he’ll meet those marks. Will the Dodgers want him in 2029?

Yikes; Dodgers in big-time trouble now.
Once a Met, always a Met

Combined with this:
>Designated for assignment earlier this month by the [Washington Nationals](https://www.espn.com/mlb/team/_/name/wsh/washington-nationals), Eder went 0-1 with a 4.91 ERA in 18 1/3 innings of relief for the [Los Angeles Angels](https://www.espn.com/mlb/team/_/name/laa/los-angeles-angels) last season.
Mean the Doyers don’t really have much in the way of closer options right now.
That said, with a WHIP of 2.33 and ERA above 10, Diaz himself wasn’t a good option.
And, since it is the Los Angeles Dodgers of Los Angeles, we do have to mention that, yes, the contract is deferred!
And, [per B-ref](https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/d/diazed04.shtml), with a 2029 INteresting team option:
>club option if Díaz has a specified injury between 2026 and 2028 and does not end season or post-season healthy, or if Díaz undergoes a specific surgery.
Well, assuming this is a TJ, he’ll meet those marks. Will the Dodgers want him in 2029?
