MLB fucked up like they always do. What’s the point of having cameras everywhere then not correct obvious blown calls.

Damn there weee some pretty confident people here claiming otherwise. Claimed that people “didn’t know the rules” and were “talking out their ass.”

I love that we’re talking about how the Padres got fucked over in this game when the far more egregious call missed strike 3 to end the 6th inning, directly lead to two runs… ironically the difference in this game.

This article was posted yesterday and updated today at 21:17 UTC.

Ben Verlander’s tweet was at 20:07 UTC.

They both say basically the exact same thing.

Is this dude’s source Ben Verlander’s tweet?

Padres still won, Miller’s still amazing, I’m already tired of this story.

I no longer want to hear from Padres fans about how whiny Dodgers fans are. They didn’t even lose the game!

  7. Umps chose to fuck the padres and miller no way around it. Anyone could see the ball is foul and the rules confirm it. Everyone officiating should be investigated and have their kalshi accounts checked or whatever

  8. I believe that the umpire rulebook and MLB say an error was made, seems to me they need to update the MLB rulebook that’s currently available on their website because it completely contradicts this and is clearly wrong.

OK, so we’ve got an official ruling on this play. Foul ball.

But this really illustrates how incompetent MLB is. Why is this in the umpire’s manual in 2019, but not in the rule book until 2026? Why is MLB referring us to said manual, which is not made publicly available, rather than the rule book, which is? (Side note, why are scoring decisions made with a manual that is also not publicly available?)

And why is the rule book so poorly written? Seriously, compare the OBR with something like the football rule books of the NFL, NCAA, or NFHS. Those are works of art compared to the MLB OBR.

Sorry. These questions have bugged me for years. This debacle just gave me reason to vent about them.

  10. Yeah but his new streak started. Don’t know how anyone else is supposed to score on him this year, .1 IP to 60.

In the end Mason got the Dub, thats all that matters. Was a pretty good game, excited for tonight.

  12. I think MLB needs to clarify their position on this since they’ve been calling it differently for years, and this either contradicts what the rulebook says or the rulebook contradicts itself depending on how you read it.

yes its true his streak came to an end, and yes its true that happened chronologically after a controversial call. it would have ended anyways, they scored 2 runs.

the bigger story is the cubs are on to him tipping his pitches, and he’s on to them being on to it. they were all over his fastball, so he stopped throwing it and ended with 11 straight sliders.

i keep seeing people say that padres fans shouldn’t be upset since we won the game, and yeah of course im happy we won the game. im just upset that the call essentially ended miller’s race to beat the all time shutout record for relievers. sure he may have offered up a run in the next few games, but i’d rather him it be due to a team getting hits off him rather than some piss poor call.
