I’m surprised Mendoza survived last night tbh

Luke Weaver makes for a great interview. Unfortunately, this skill is unrelated to pitching.

I’ll always love Luke for his 2024 season, but dude’s been cooked since sustaining his injury last May.

  4. SnowballWasRight

Goddamn, Luke is incredibly well spoken. Good response

I miss you Luke but I’m very glad you’re not on my team anymore

My goodness, one of the most thoughtful and insightful responses i’ve ever heard. What a guy

  7. I have zero stake in this but he’s one of the few mlb players who’s very funny and has a great personality lol

God I love him man. Really hope he turns it around

Luke Weaver is an absolute pleasure and joy and he will forever be beloved amongst Yankees fans for a reason, there is no one more genuine and accountable than him when push comes to shove. He deserves nothing but the best.

  10. If only he could pitch as well as he talks (or as well as the 22 million dollars.)

When someone says « what’s the guy supposed to say » in a losing interview, it’s gotta be this.

Not « he was brought in to hit lefties » and then drops the topic. There’s accountability here, they want to win, they know they’re bad, and they’re going to have to grind it out until they figure something out.

Weaver might’ve blew the game but he’s like 5th on the long list of reasons of why they lost today.

RIP Mets fans. Nobody in the management has any accountability. Yall should’ve fired Mendoza and Stearns should be gone at the end of the season.

This seems like more or less the best thing anybody could say in these circumstances.

Shoot for the stars. Even if you miss you’ll end up among the … Mets? No, that’s not right…

  15. Holy fuck I’ve been waiting for them to say something other than the « we’re too talented for this » crap for almost twelve months now, thank you Luke Weaver

This is the kind of response our manager should be putting out there, good job Weaver

Stunningly human and genuine response, that was really…vulnerable and actually beautiful. You could separate this from baseball altogether and it still resonates hard.
Not used to seeing that kind of depth from a pro ball player. You’re a special one Luke, you got another fan today

  18. It does sound a lot like « Don’t let the Great get in the way of the Good. »

They’re feeling the pressure to be ‘Great’, especially with how things are going, and that’s impeding their ability to be ‘Good’

Don’t worry, they have a series against the Angels coming up to get them on the right track 👍

I feel bad for the guy, entering the « I throw just as hard as I ever did, the ball just isn’t getting there as fast » stage of your career is no picnic for any pitcher.

Its easy when your winning to talk to the media, it takes an adult and pro to talk when your losing like this
