I really don’t know what the Rockies were thinking with extending Tovar. They gave him a long-term extension coming off of a 72 wRC+ season in which he showed bad plate patience (not exactly a surprise with his minor league track record) and a sub-.300 OBP. Definitely should’ve waited. He had 1 year of looking like a decent shortstop in 2024 and it’s been chunky poo ever since.

I truly believe the brewers had no intention of shopping Caleb Durbin and that the Red Sox got desperate to make a move. Kyle Harrison looks like an absolute stud and even though we love Durbin, it was a no brainer. Seemed like a weird trade at the time because we had really no good replacement at 3B (and arguable still don’t) two weeks before the season.
