It feels there are 4 or 5 teams this year that are all competing for worst in the league. Stark contrast to the last three seasons where it was clear at this point who the worst was

Its what happens when you are led by a guy who never played pro ball before.

Has their new college coach tried BDSM in the dugout with that weirdo Gilbert yet? Maybe that will help.

They are terrible at every aspect of the game

    It’s truly an amazing experience

People are going to blame this on Tony Vitello, abd while I am by no means a Tony V fan, I don’t think this is on him. It was clear going into the season that this roster was average at best. The Tennessee teams that Tony managed had top-tier talent for the college level. The Giants don’t.

This is not a Vitello problem, this is a Buster Posey problem. He did absolutely nothing to bolster the team in the offseason. The two bullpen arms he signed are injured, Adrian Houser is worth -1.0 bWAR, and Harrison Bader is still injured.

People will be quick to put the blame on Vitello and Posey due to their lack of experience but a fish rots from the head down. Our ownership is trash (rare in pro sports I know). They care more about real estate and investments off the field. If the Johnsons cared as much about supporting right wing politics as they did about putting together a solid team we might look a little different.

That being said it doesn’t really matter when your two biggest stars have some of the worst offensive numbers in the game. Luis Arraez and Casey Schmitt can’t carry this team alone.

I will happily put some of the blame on our third base coach Hector Borg too. That guy has had some amazingly bad calls that have cost us much needed runs for an offense that needs all the help it can get.

Giants are at a competitive disadvantage due to a few reasons.

They play at a ballpark where offense goes to die.

And then their [GM admitted](https://sfstandard.com/2023/12/13/buster-posey-san-francisco-drug-crime-giants-shohei-ohtani/) that the city itself is making it hard for them to attract free agents and their families.

This forces the Giants to over-pay free agents or take on bad contracts to come and play there (Adames, Devers).

And when those players do not play well, they are in deep trouble.
